Mister Loom is Joe Suchta, Johnny C, Melissa Houston and Malcolm Royal. The Brooklyn-based eclectic rock band was formed in early 2009. Originally a trio, the group eventually evolved into a four-some.
Suchta, a songwriter, guitarist and the lead singer of Mister Loom, began his professional career in the early 1990s playing and touring with hard rock band Black Rain, in the Czech Republic. He later moved back to New York City to start up his own band.
Bass guitarist Johnny C was the next to join the group. The former Baptist minister has written, recorded and toured with multiple rock, jazz and gospel groups. He also plays 6-string guitar, keyboard and drums.
The third member to join Mister Loom was drummer Melissa Houston. She has played all over New York City with a variety of acts, made records with several bands and has toured the country. In addition, Houston teaches private drum lessons and group workshops, and runs her very own company, Drums and Other Noise Productions.
As the newest member to join the band, Malcolm Royal translates his classical violin sound into classic Rock and Roll. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native first picked up the violin in kindergarten, but didn’t play seriously until the sixth grade. Over the years he has recorded albums with a number of bands including Oklahoma Jazz octet The Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey.
